Hambridge Village Hall News:
November 2021 – The Parish Council have recently been successful in obtaining two fabulous grants for the HWRT to go into improving the village hall even further. The funding was from the ‘Opening Up Safely and Reconnecting Communities Fund’, that Somerset County Council had allocated monies for, and SALC were managing on their behalf. The Parish Council worked closely with HWRT to obtain the following:
- £1,500.00 to go towards the installation of a hearing loop for the main hall and committee room. The acoustics in the multi-purpose hall are poor and The Village Hall committee will now go ahead and install a hearing loop to assist those in the community who have difficulty with hearing. The school also use the hall on a daily basis and on occasions have had young people, parents or others with hearing aids attending school events.
- £3,524.00 to go towards upgrading the audio-visual provision. The committee are acutely aware that some residents of Hambridge and Westport, who have always led an active social life with village activities, have become very isolated during lockdown and are concerned about mixing again, so they are looking for projects that will support them to get out safely and re-engaged in community activities. Some of the audio visual equipment is now ‘aged’ and they have been recommended that they need upgrading. This grant will now enable them to restart their popular film nights again, but now with HD film quality standards plus a new projector!
The Parish Council and HWRT wish to thank SCC and SALC for all their help with this. Further updates will follow…
